Architecture Table

White Ash

7’-0” long x 1’-6” wide x 2’-0” tall

This piece began with a commission to design and build a Donald Judd inspired table that could serve both as a conference table and workspace in a small architecture firm.

To allow for portability, the table is comprised of two end assemblies and 4 large planks. Slip tenons between the planks and end assemblies provide a rigid connection while allowing for disassembly. Wooden wedges driven against temporary battens attached to the underside of the table, allow the upper and lower planks to be removed simultaneously from the end assemblies.

Each end assembly is comprised of a single board to maintain grain continuity. The sides are attached to the top with mitered dovetails and the shelf is attached with thru wedged tenons.
